Kwa Zulu Natal with its subtropical coastline and warm Indian Ocean water caters for almost every taste imaginable. It has the sweeping savannah in the easr=t and the Majestic Drakensberg Mountain Range in the west.

Traditionally a popular holiday destination for holidaymakers flocking to its sandy shores and wonderful surf. It is no wonder that Kwa Zulu Natal is South Africa's bussiest local holiday destination.

The climate in Kwa Zulu Natal is known to be eternal summer. Although the temperatures differ from region to region, the province has a tropical climate and has generous rainfall during the summer months. During the Christmas holiday season it can get extremely hot and humid along the Coast Line.

Major Attractions in Kwa Zulu Natal

Beaches - Along the Kwa Zulu Natal you will find some of the country's best beaches. Umhlanga Rocks, Ballito, Shaka's Rock, Shelley Beach, Uvongo, Margate and Ramsgate to just mention a few.

Durban's Grey Street - Grey Street is home to Durban's Indian district and is the best place to enjoy spicy local food.

Mountains and Dragon's - The Ukhahlamba Drakensberg Park was declared a World Heritage site in 2000. This mountain wilderness, bordering Lesotho is a vast National Park boasting the highest mountain range in South Africa. Known to the Zulus as the Barrier of Spears the Drakensberge or Dragon Mountains is truly spectacular.

Zulu Heartland - To the west of the Hluhluwe Umfolozi Game Reserves one can explore local cultural museums. Near Ondini find the reconstructed royal enclosure of Cetshwayo, the Zulu King. The fascinating Vukani Collection Museum is found at Eshowe and boasts one of the best collections of Zulu art and culture in the world

On Safari - Famous for it's Rhino conservation programme and big five sightings, Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Park is the largest of Kwa Zulu Natal's reserves and boasts with a fantastic cross section of wildlife.

 

 

Sodwana Bay - Some of the best diving and snorkeling opportunities in South Africa are on offer in Sodwana Bay

The Battlefields - The interior nort of the Tugela River marks the spot of gruesome battles between the Boere and Zulu's, British and Zulu's and of course the Boere and the British.

The Inanda Heritage Route - Visit the place where Mahatma Ghandi developed his philosophy of passive resistance

Midlands Meander - The Midlands Meander is picture postcard country. The rolling green hills of the midlands are home to English-style country inns, guesthouses, and quiant bed and breakfast establishments that offers great accommodation. This area is also known for its polo clubs, delightful restaurants and a marvelous arts and crafts route.

Valley of a Thousand Hills - One of the most picturesque drives in the world just 45 km from Durban known as the Valley of a Thousand Hills. This is a drive that you will never forget and wher you will build memories for a lifetime.

The Sardine Run - The South Coast sees the incredible annual migration of sardines every year. Shoals of sardines can be seen in their feeding frenzy as they move from the Kwa Zulu Natal South Coast to Mozambique.

 

 

Hiking the Oribi Gorge - The Oribi Gorge Nature Reserve is a wonderfully scenic area offering excellent hiking opportunities.

The Hibiscus Coast - The coastline from Port Shepstone to Port Edward is known for it's fantastic beaches as well as golfing opportunities, including San Lameer and the Wild Coast Holiday Inn.

The Dolphin Coast - The glorious dolpin coast streches from Umhlanga Rocks, north of Durban to the mouth of the Tugela River. This area boasts wide beaches and the warm ocean is the perfect playground for dolphins.
